Adoption
Although we aim to provide services to the family that will help them reunite with their children, that is not always possible or in the best interest of the children due to continued problems at home. When reuniting a family is not possible, CWS works to provide a permanent situation for children, through either guardianship or adoption. Guardians have most of the same legal rights and authority as birth parents, without requiring the termination of parental rights. Guardianship ends when a child turns 18 and is considered an adult. Adoption also provides a child with a permanent family, meaning that full legal parental rights and responsibilities are transferred from the child’s biological family to the adopting family.
