Tulare County Public Health has followed CDC recommendations to encourage the focus on more common etiologies first (flu or other tests to rule those illnesses out) where testing is already readily available.

Tulare County Public Health Lab (TCPHL) is, at this time, providing public health testing support for:
Tulare, Fresno, Kings, Kern, Madera, Merced, and Mariposa Counties.

•  TCPHL has tested every COVID-19 sample that has come in within 1 day 
•  TCPHL has moved to 7-day per week operations
•  TCPHL welcomes the extra capacity in the system that commercial laboratories and test kits will provide

New Area Code, New Dialing Procedure

New Area Code, New Dialing Procedure

The California Public Utilities Commission is adding a new area code, 357, to the areas using the 559 area code. Starting February 26, 2025, local calls will require dialing 1 + area code + phone number (1 +10 digits). You can still dial just 3 digits for 911, 988, and other services like 211, 311, 411, 511, 611, 711, or 811 if available
