Newly Named Petco Love Invests in Lifesaving Work of Tulare County Animal Services

Grant of $75,000 will help save more pet lives in Tulare County

Visalia, CA (May 19, 2021) – Tulare County Animal Services announced today a $75,000 grant investment from the newly named Petco Love, to support its lifesaving work for animals in Tulare County.

Petco Love is a nonprofit organization leading change for pets nationally by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999 as the Petco Foundation, it has empowered organizations with $300 million invested to date in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. Additionally, it has helped find loving homes for more than 6.5 million pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations nationwide.

“Today Petco Love announces an investment in Tulare County Animal Services and hundreds of other organizations as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only one component. This month, we will also launch the first of our national tools to empower all animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us.”

“This grant is a game-changer in our effort to improve the lives of animals in this community,” said Cassie Heffington, Animal Services Manager at Tulare County.

Tulare County Animal Services strives to improve the safety and quality of life for animals and residents, serving the unincorporated areas of Tulare County. Recently, Tulare County Animal Services hit a higher than 90% save rate for animals in the shelter and is working hard to improve services for the community and its animals. These efforts include placing a low-cost spay and neuter clinic on the shelter’s property, set to open for the public in the fall of 2021. Funding from Petco Love will be utilized to both open the clinic and provide subsidized and low-cost services to Tulare County residents.
