Karen Haught, MD, MPH, FAAP, is the Public Health Officer for Tulare County, serving in HHSA's Public Health Branch. She also serves as the Tuberculosis Controller and the Medical Director of California Children's Services in Tulare County.
As the public health officer, Dr. Haught works collaboratively across sectors to create and support conditions in our communities for us all to be healthy and to address both acute health threats and root causes of chronic illness.
Prior to moving to Tulare County in 2002, Dr. Haught was a practicing pediatrician and faculty member at Children's Memorial Hospital and Northwestern University School of Medicine. She has also previously worked in private practice in the Seattle area and in a clinic for homeless families in New York City.
Dr. Haught attended medical school at Ohio State University and received her public health training at the University of Washington.
