The Land Use Regulation program reviews building permits and special use permit application requests, and assures proper septic system design. We participate in the Resource Management Agency’s Plan Review Committee, which seeks to prevent public health hazards and environmental degradation resulting from improperly planned land development projects.
Land Use staff members investigate and evaluate county building permit and land use applications involving subdivision and parcel maps, site plans, special use permits, and environmental impact reports. Projects are evaluated for compliance with laws and regulations regarding sewage and solid waste disposal, domestic and public water supply, vector control, hazardous materials storage, retail food establishments, public swimming pools, and dairy siting and operation.
