Karen Elliott, Public Health Branch Director

Karen Elliott has served as HHSA’s Public Health Director since September 2017. Karen oversees several public health programs and initiatives that focus on improving the health of families and communities by promoting healthy lifestyles, preventing disease, and removing environmental dangers. She leads the public health programs and operations team to improve service delivery, build strong community partnerships, and promote equal opportunities for all individuals to seek the highest level of health possible.

Karen began her career with HHSA in 2001. Over the years she has held a variety of increasingly responsible roles within the Public Health, Mental Health, and Fiscal Operations Branches. It is her goal to improve the health of individuals and the community by reducing barriers in accessing public health services.

She is a member of the San Joaquin Valley Public Health Consortium and served as its chairperson from July 2018 through June 2019.

Karen obtained her bachelor’s degree in business at California State University, Chico, and possesses a master’s degree in business administration from Fresno State.
