To protect the health and safety of Tulare County residents, the Environmental Health programs offer services that include making sure local businesses are aware of the important codes and regulations that ensure a high standard of food handling.

We conduct inspections at numerous food facilities throughout the county, including restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries, bars, schools, gas stations, produce stands, hotels/motels, and bed & breakfast inns. Also included are inspections of cow and goat dairies and related facilities. Inspection results from food facilities are posted for public information in the Visalia Times-Delta.

We also issue permits for permanent, temporary, and mobile food facilities, and we handle investigations and complaints related to food-borne illnesses and food safety.

For more information about permits and inspection requirements for food facilities, or to file a complaint, please see the Resources tab.
