Are you experiencing financial hardship but finding you are not eligible for most public assistance programs? The General Assistance program provides temporary cash aid to adults who are not able to support themselves, do not receive other public funds, and are not eligible for any other assistance programs.
There are two types of General Assistance:
- Employable: This category applies to you if you do not have a job but you are able to work, or you are working but earning less than the General Assistance income limit. To qualify for help in this category, you must be willing to accept any work within your capabilities.
- Non-Employable: This category applies to you if you cannot work due to a physical or mental disability, as determined by a medical doctor or mental health professional.
